To brace for the unexpected, Montessori De Sagrada Familia, Inc. (MDSF) reinforced its disaster preparedness framework through an emergency and comprehensive orientation held on October 16 at the Pre-Elementary Conference Hall.
Led by Principal and Overall Incident Commander Maria Cristina Silamor and Deputy Incident Commander Maria Carmela Ong, the session moved beyond orientation, becoming an active and urgent consultation on readiness.
“This can save lives,” Silamor emphasized.
“The antidote to fear is preparedness,” she added.
The orientation convened the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committee, school leaders, and vice principals for communications to refine MDSF’s unified disaster plan.
Ong noted that the two-day suspension of classes was “optimized to cover all scenarios,” ensuring each member understood their roles before, during, and after a crisis.
Four key pillars guided the discussion: safety, to protect life and minimize injury; preparedness, to uphold clear and coordinated protocols; character, to nurture calm, responsible, and cooperative behavior; and communication, to ensure strong coordination and efficient response.
Participants also reviewed the three critical phases of disaster management—preparedness, response, and recovery—and were introduced to a departmental alarm system that will trigger across all units during emergencies.
The session closed with an open forum, where attendees raised situational questions and clarifications related to all kinds of scenarios and locations.
Vice principals met with their respective teachers last October 17 to cascade key information from the session, ensuring every department is aligned and informed.
Turning awareness into action when seconds matter most, the initiative assures parents that the school community stands ready and guided by clear protocols and steady leadership to safeguard the Sagradan community.
