When the Baliwag City Government ordered a two-day suspension of face-to-face classes on October 16–17 to assess the safety of public facilities, Montessori De Sagrada Familia, Inc. (MDSF) maximized the pause to ensure the security and readiness of its entire campus community.
A certified structural engineer, Engr. Gabriel Mateo (PICE), conducted an extensive on-site ocular inspection of all MDSF buildings—including the Preschool, Grade School, and High School buildings, annex building, canteen, Social Hall (The Chapters), MDSF gymnasium, and clustered covered courts.
His evaluation confirmed that all facilities remain structurally sound, stable, and fit for educational use in compliance with the Philippine Building Code. He further certified that the structures are within the premises of Zone 7 seismic impact and are safe for occupancy.
“The covered court with bleachers may even serve as an assembly area due to its solid structure and open layout,” Mateo noted in his report.
The ocular results also stated that the buildings are capable of withstanding environmental stress and daily tremors without compromising safety.
The inspection also resonated with many parents who saw the citywide suspension as both timely and necessary.
“The suspension of classes has a good purpose, and we truly appreciate it. I just hope they will also include the inspection of private school buildings where our children study, so the class suspension will really serve its meaningful purpose,” one parent commented.
MDSF regularly leads earthquake drills and safety orientations, emphasizing a clear message: preparedness is protection, and safety is everyone’s shared responsibility.
“We cannot predict earthquakes, but we can equip ourselves to be prepared. Rest assured that the school management is continuously working on improving its disaster preparedness measures, including regular earthquake drills and structural safety inspections. Parents are encouraged to engage their children in discussions at home about disaster preparedness and safety, and to come up with their own family preparedness plan,” the MDSF administration said in a post.
As the city resumed classes, the inspection stood as a vital assurance for parents and students alike—that every beam, wall, and classroom at MDSF stands not only on concrete but on a firm foundation of care, trust, and safety.
