The Department of Education’s Senior High School curriculum acknowledges that exposure to actual work experience is vital in preparing our students today for actual careers in the future.
In accordance to the curriculum, the ABM (Accounting, Business and Mangement) and HUMMS (Humanities and Social Sciences) strands require its Grade 12 students to undergo a Work Immersion Program as part of their completion in their Business Enterprise Simulation subject. The said program entails students to complete the 80-hr work experience wherein they will be able to see actual work operations and look into the connection between the theories learned inside the classroom as well as the practices and trends that are conducted in a work place.
In order to fulfill the work immersion program, Montessori De Sagrada Familia has developed partnership with different industries related to the ABM and HUMMS strands. Last semester, the school directress Mrs. Cristina Silamor and SHS coordinator, Ms. Rowena San Jose have forged ties with the Simbulan Industries and Office of the Municipal Administrator as SHS work immersion partners.
The Simbulan Industries is a known national company specializing in interior fit-out works and manufacturing of furniture, furnishings, and woodworks. The 42-year old company’s operations and offices are located in Baliwag and Metro Manila. Mrs. Anna Celine Simbulan-Darcen, Managing Director for Sales and Marketing of the Simbulan Industries Inc. is the work immersion institution supervisor for the ABM (Accounting, Business and Management) strand in this partnership program. During the initial discussion of the work immersion partnership, Mrs. Darcen created a lineup of work activities that will enable the students to have a clear perspective about the different areas of operating a manufacturing business.
The HUMMS (Hummanities and Social Sciences) students on the otherhand will be deployed at the Office of the Municipal Administrator located at the Baliwag Municipal Building. In the said program, They will be under the close supervision of the town’s municipal administrator, Mr. Enrique V. Tagle. According to Mr. Tagle, the students are welcome to experience what it’s like working for public service. The work immersion program will allow the students to see the diversity of people and their needs. Moreover, they will also identify how servant leadership matters to the growth and development of a town. The Immersion Program under the humanities strand will expose learners to the Social Protection Cluster of the Local Government Unit.
With all these support and accommodation given by partner industries for the work immersion program, indeed, the school is grateful as it ventures its students to the world of careers and experiences. MDSF hopes that thru the joint efforts of the family, the school, and the industry partners, the senior students would not only be ready for college but for the real world as well.
