To further hone the writing expertise, a seminar on Modern Writing Fundamentals was attended by the MDSF pool of writers at the MDSF Senior High School building, July 8.
“The seminar was very insightful. It packaged the things we used to know in performing our role as website writers. It was like being a campus journalist again,” Sir Vhon Joseph Solomon said.
The said seminar was facilitated by Mr. Bryan Eli B. Sadorra and Mrs. Mico D. Sadorra, a couple who owns the SOLI DEO Events Management that organizes and facilitates trainings, workshops and forums all over the Philippines.
To prime the participants to think creatively and critically while making the class fun and motivating, the facilitators incorporated a warm-up activity about Sentence Combining wherein the first group was assigned to write a short story, and the other group was tasked to write a news article. This was just one of the few engaging activities that were integrated as the wordies went along with the workshop.
Teacher Roan I. Estay, one of the writers said, “It really inspires me a lot and it’s a wakeup call for me to start to write again.”
The topics that were covered on the said seminar were: Journalistic Writing Rudiments, Creative Writing, Blog Writing and Editorial Writing. Since the facilitators support the endeavor of MDSF to have people of Baliwag get updated of what is happening in the Sagradan community, they put more emphasis in coaching the group about News Writing. Nevertheless, discussions on the rest of the topics motivated each participant to write more literary and even aspired everyone to do the blogging.
This workshop was made possible through the initiative of the school directress, Mrs. Maria Cristina S. Silamor.
