Last July 6-10, 2020, the Montessori De Sagrada Familia held a 5-day trial class of its learning continuity programs, the FLY Sagradan (Flexible e-Learning for the Young Safradan) and the SAFE (Sagradan Access to Flexible E-learning).
161 Sagradans participated in the FLY and SAFE pilot testing last June 18-19, 2020. After which, 733 Sagradans registered and took part in the actual trial class wherein students attended daily virtual meetings in the morning and accomplished skill-building activities in the afternoon. The 103 esteemed members of the faculty department designed technology integrated learning experiences which were migrated in the school’s learning management system. The competent Sagradan teachers who also facilitated the virtual meetings assisted their students during their independent study tasks.
Prior to the pilot and trial classes, orientation meetings with the parents and students were given in order to further help Sagradan families in preparing for this school year’s new learning modality. The school principal, Mrs. Maria Cristina Santos-Silamor presented the necessary information that the parents need to know in relation to the FLY Sagradan and SAFE programs. Mrs. Silamor discussed about how the faculty members design, enrich and facilitate the curriculum, instruction and assessment through various technology platforms. T. Tin Hashimoto, Sir Jomar Cruz and Sir Jim Abanag also gave the parents as walk through of navigating the school’s learning management system. Mrs. Silamor also emphasized that Fridays will be allotted for tracking of learning progress and giving feedback to parents and students.
Student and parent engagement are key factors in the success of the implementation of the school’s learning continuity programs. The school firmly believes that constructive feedback is very essential as it enables the school to improve its flexible e-learning services to the community. After the trial class, a feedback form was given to all participants including parents and teachers. Hundreds of Sagradan families have expressed their gratitude to the school and its teachers for the features of its learning continuity programs. The things that their children experienced during the trial class gave them the assurance that learning at MDSF is pandemic proof.
On July 14-17, 2020, the school will hold a live interview with selected Sagradan families who have experienced the FLY Sagradan and SAFE trial class. The session aims to give other families a concrete picture of the things that they need to anticipate and prepare at home in order for their children to have a smooth transition to e-learning.
