MDSF family congratulates the newly appointed Teacher Criselda Z. Valderama – Subject Area Supervisor in Math for her promotion to the rank of Vice Principal for Student Affairs, High School Department. The appointment was presented by the school principal, Maria Carmela S. Ong during the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night held at the social hall last February 17, 2023.
Colleagues characterize Teacher Cris as a responsible teacher, committed to improving student outcomes, promoting accountability, and maintaining order and structure. As an educator for more than two decades, she is regarded by her former students as one of the most effective math teachers during their high school years at MDSF, making her complex lessons and topics easy to understand through various techniques. In teaching mathematics, T. Cris makes sure that the majority of her students have understood or mastered the present lesson before proceeding to the next topic. In this way, students will not feel intimidated and frustrated with math, thus giving them a sense of fulfillment and love for learning. As a subject area supervisor, she has mentored a number of aspiring teachers, empowering them to design and implement math activities effectively.
Teacher Criselda finished her bachelor’s degree in secondary education major in Mathematics at Adamson University – Cum Laude. She has also completed the academic requirements for masters of education major in Mathematics at the Philippine Normal University. Her rich experience as an educational expert is not only seen in the classroom but is also reflected in her professional development activities which cover interesting fields such as student agency, problem-solving, constructivism, and blended learning.
In her acceptance speech during the appreciation night for faculty and staff, T. Cris fully expressed her commitment not only to continue what has been started by the student affairs office but also her openness to further collaborate with faculty members in creating new initiatives for student development.
