It was a call to action.
Despite last week’s shift to online learning, Grade 3 students of Montessori De Sagrada Familia, Inc. (MDSF) stayed on track in their journey through the landscapes of Region 3, guided by experts from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) during a virtual seminar themed “Region 3 Reimagined: Miniature Worlds, Mythical Tales,” held on September 4.
This event was part of the school’s “Engagement with Experts” program, designed to immerse students and integrate the real world into their academic lives.
“The talk was very informative, and I’m sure the kids will be able to apply it to their projects, like making a diorama to showcase and promote the beauty of Region 3,” Grade 3 Level Coordinator Ms. Mary Grace Reyes said.
She added that through subjects like Araling Panlipunan, Science, MAPEH, and English, pupils will be able to connect their lessons from the natural world through this webinar to create puppets of mythical creatures, celebrate, tell, and preserve local folklore and legends, and build dioramas of the region’s landscapes and critical habitats.
Furthermore, Mr. Ronald Fabros and Ms. Anna Noelle Bataclan of CENRO Baliwag virtually transported the students to the province’s heart as they introduced them to echoing caves, cascading waterfalls, and wildlife sanctuaries hanging by a thread.
With interactive trivia, lively games, and a buzzing Q-and-A, the experts stressed the importance of conserving rare and endangered species in the region, planting seeds of responsibility, and urging students to become stewards of the environment in their own creative way.
From the safety of their screens, students felt the weight of the grass under their feet—a reminder that the world outside their homes is beautiful and worth saving.
