BALIWAG CITY, BULACAN – Celebrating educators who champion 21st-century learning experiences for Sagradans, Montessori De Sagrada Familia (MDSF) bestowed the Guro Bente Uno Award to six teachers during their Appreciation Night bearing the theme “The Gift that Keeps on Giving” on February 16.
Divided into two distinguished categories for each department—rookie and seasoned teachers—the awards ceremony highlighted faculty members whose innovative practices continued to manifest themselves in their everyday teaching landscapes.
Among the seasoned faculty members recognized for this academic year were Kathrina Grace Pedrajas (Pre-Elementary), Janet Yambao (Elementary), and Jeffrey Zubiaga (High School). Additionally, recognition was given to 21st-century rookie teachers, including Mary Joy Competente (Pre-Elementary), John Joseph Delima (Elementary), and Darie Ann Maon (High School).
Upon recommendation from their colleagues and supervisors through Google Forms, final nominees for the awards were then selected by the school board, requiring them to create and submit their teaching portfolios showcasing weekly learning plans, assessments, and students’ outputs, as well as an attached verification from their respective subject area supervisors. Assistant School Head of Keys School Manila Stephanie Barredo presided over the decisive assessment of the final submissions.
One of the awardees hailing from the elementary John Joseph Delima said MDSF challenged him to overcome his limitations and ultimately become a better teacher.
“The person I was a year ago, who had nothing but a seed of passion for teaching, is not the same person I am presently; for now, MDSF has been equipping me with all the things I need to become an effective 21st-century teacher,” De Lima said.
