Historical feat.
The Sagradan Penpushers and Sagradan Juniors scored separate victories as their school papers reaped several achievements in this year’s Division and Regional Search for Best School Papers in the Elementary and Secondary Levels.
The Sagradan Jr., the official publication of the Elementary Department spearheaded by neophyte school publication adviser Reinlois Felipe, were hailed as the 7th Overall Best School Paper and 1st among all private elementary schools in the province of Bulacan. Aside from placing 7th, it also snatched the following awards; 3rd Place Best Science Page, 5th Place Best Features Page, 6th Place Best Editorial Page, and 9th Place Best News Page, Best Sports Page, and Best Layout and Page Design. In the regional level, Sagradan Jr. ranked 6th overall for Best Sports Page, and 10th overall Best Layout and Page Design, thus earning as the best among all private elementary schools in Central Luzon.
On the other hand, The Sagradan and Ang Sagradan, the official school publications of the High School level under the leadership of the veteran school publication adviser Sir Vhon Joseph Solomon, made a grand post pandemic comeback as both publications qualified for the national level. The Sagradan, the English school paper of the secondary level emerged as the 4th Overall Best School Paper of Bulacan. It also received the following awards in the division level: 3rd Place for Best News Page and Best Layout and Page Design; 4th Place for Best Sports Page, 5th Place for Best Science Page, 8th Place for Best Features Page, and 9th Place for Best Editorial Page. For the regional level, The Sagradan ranked 7th overall for Best Sports Page, and 8th overall for Best Editorial Page.
Ang Sagradan, the Filipino publication counterpart of The Sagradan, was hailed as the 3rd Overall Best School Paper of the province of Bulacan. It also captured the following honors: 1st Place for Layout and Page Design; 2nd Place for Best Sports Page; 4th Place for both Best Editorial Page and Best Science and Technology Page; and 5th Place for both Best News Page and Best Features Page. In the regional level, Ang Sagradan broke barriers as it emerged as the 8th Overall Best School Publication of the entire Region III. It also seized numerous regional awards, such as 8th Place for Best News Page; 6th Place for both Best Science and Technology Page and Best in Layout and Page Design, and 1st Place for Best Sports Page. It had replicated its previous achievement as Ang Sagradan also ranked 1st Place for Best Sports Page during the 2019 Regional Schools Press Conferences held at Capas, Tarlac.
Both publications ranked 1st among all private secondary schools in the province of Bulacan, while Ang Sagradan ranked 1st Overall Best School Paper among all private secondary schools in the entire Central Luzon.
This astounding feat would not be made possible without the hard work and dedication of all the members of the editorial board and staff of the three school publications, and the overwhelming support of the school administrators, faculty members and the non-teaching staff, and the parents of the campus journalists. Sagradan Jr., The Sagradan, and Ang Sagradan will go head-to-head with the division and region’s finest in this year’s National Schools Press Conference – School Paper category, which will kick off from July 8-12 in the Heritage City of the South, Carcar City, Cebu.
