Library houses not only knowledge but also wisdom.
Instilling the value of responsibility among students when it comes to using library resources, Montessori De Sagrada Familia (MDSF) librarians conducted series of orientation seminars for students from Elementary to Senior High School Department.
Together with their assistants, Mrs. Grace R. Bernaldez and Mr. Mamerto R. Tubis, Elementary and High School Department Librarians, respectively, emphasized that to ensure maximum use of the library resources which include books, computer units, and study fixtures, the students should give extra care and should follow the rules and regulations in using and borrowing them.
Popularly known for its independent readers and effective English communicators, MDSF believes in the importance of the library in promoting self-discipline and information literacy among students, especially among lower grade pupils.
In an interview, Mrs. Bernaldez shared that “libraries play an important role in helping children practice and enjoy their skills in reading”. Moreover, she said that through the concept of borrowing and returning books, children will be able to acquire responsibility and self-discipline, which is one of the school’s core values.
Furthermore, the school librarians introduced the services being offered in the library and the new collection of books which they acquired last May 27.
