Two elementary pupils of Montessori De Sagrada Familia took home bronze medals in the declamation contest of the 2017 Bulacan Private Schools Association (BulPriSA) District III Meet yesterday.
Francis Achilles Jael of 2 –Jade and Alexis Robert Nuesca of 4-Rosequartz both emerged as fourth placers of their respective categories as the first day of cultural competitions of the annual inter-school event started at Baliuag University.
The eight year-old Jael impressed the judges with his speaking prowess in his rendition of Steve Gingco’s The Rich Man and The Poor Man , enough to seal a runner-up finish in a battle of 32 schools in the Level I category.
Mr. Jomar Dela Cruz, Jael’s coach and homeroom adviser, lauded the performance and attributed the success to his ward’s passion and hard work that he observed way before the competition.
He said that Jael exhibits innate intelligence, expressiveness, and willingness in class, which led the young student to become a consistent honor student.
“He has an open ear during trainings. He always listens to my Instructions and made it sure to put those into action. He is always excited to train. He is not shy to showcase his skill in front of all the grade 2 classes,” said Mr. Jomar Dela Cruz, Jael’s mentor and homeroom adviser.
Nuesca faced a tougher road but shone in his own way against 40 participants in the Level II category.
Mrs. Gladiola Lilen Daynos, his coach, praised Nuesca not only for his delivery of Leomicio Offemaria Corpuz’s Disgruntled, but also for his high value of consideration for others.
“Noong nasa contest venue siya, ine-encourage pa niya yung mga kapwa niya contestant. Tapos, he congratulated his fellow winners,” she said in delight.
She added that Nuesca’s good will toward other people is very evident even in regular school days.
“Si Alexis, total package siya… wala ka nang mahihiling pa. Mabait, mapagmahal, masipag at matiyaga sa pag-aaral, pasensiyoso, and he is a good encourager to his classmates,” Daynos said.
Though they will not advance in the provincial meet, the two declaimers helped improve MDSF’s standing in the cultural meet with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals after yesterday’s affair.
