Staying true to its mission of providing relevant classroom experiences, the Montessori De Sagrada Familia held a whole day seminar on Understanding the 21st Century Learners under the supervision and leadership of Dr. Nina Era. The faculty members were given a refresher course on the different learning theories and principles that are still relevant to understanding the varying needs of today’s learners belonging to the Generation X. In a world where technology plays a big role in the lives of today’s learners, together with the complexity and challenges that exist in the home, school administrators and teachers are now encouraged to plan and facilitate more engaging activities that foster higher order thinking skills. Even if the seminar was an affirmation that the present classroom activities being delivered in the MDSF classroom are already developmentally appropriate and aligned with the targeted 21st Century learning and skills, the faculty department across all levels, are now empowered and strongly challenged to enrich their current practices for the successful realization of the MDSF’s academic goals for its Sagradan learners.
