Armed with his pen and paper, a Grade 10 student bagged the first place in the Bulacan Private Schools Association (BulPriSA) Essay Writing Contest held at Living Angels Christian Academy (LACA), September 17.
Robertson P. Gatmaitan stated that he pursued his goal by reading books and through giving an extra effort in his trainings led by Mr. Jared P. Manalastas.
“Writing an essay under time pressure may be hard, but if you possess a vast knowledge of vocabulary, you’ll probably win,” he stated.
He also added that he faced struggles days before the contest as his training for the EDDIS II Schools’ Press Conference coincided with his preparations for BulPriSA.
“After nung Press Conference we’re scheduled to train until the day of BulPriSA, kaso nasuspend yung klase so I was forced to train by myself,” he said.
His defeat in the recent PressCon event did not put him down at all, hence it became an instrument for him to work harder.
“If there’s one tip I can give, it would be to read, read more, and read the best. May isa pa pala akong tip, move on, move on, magmoving up ka muna!” Gatmaitan concluded.
