Representing not just the school but also the Division of Bulacan, Sagradan campus journalists faced Central Luzon’s best as they competed and received awards in the Regional Schools’ Press Conference held in Capas, Tarlac, November 27-28.
Individual contestants include Karl Einon De Belen, who is the lone qualifier for the National Schools’ Press Conference to be held in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, after winning third place in Copyreading and Headline Writing (English); Alexis Robert Nuesca, also in the same category; and Clara Patricia Caubang, Sports Writing (English).
Ziv Gabriel Cortez also won sixth place in the Search for the Most Outstanding Campus Journalist while his mentor, Mr. Vhon Joseph Solomon also bagged the sixth place in the Search for the Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser.
Meanwhile, Sagradan group delegates also won awards in Online Publishing (English), fourth place; Collaborative Desktop Publishing (English), seventh place; and TV Scriptwriting and Broadcasting (Filipino), third place in Best in Technical Application.
Franz Martin Dizon of the school’s TV Scriptwriting and Broadcasting team also bagged eight place in Best in News Presenter (Filipino).
In the elementary school paper category, The Sagradan Jr., led by their SPAs, Ms. Mary Joylene Itang, Mr. Dan Angelo Bagadiong and Mr. Robert Aquino, was hailed as eight best school paper overall as well as second best editorial page, and sixth best sports page.
In the high school level, Ang Sagradan, led by Ms. Roan Estay and Mr. Juim Abanag, won first place in best in sports page (Filipino) while The Sagradan, led by Solomon and Ms. Abigail Maclang won seventh place in best in layout (English).
The Division of Bulacan was also hailed as the overall second best performing division in the recently concluded event that focused on the theme of “Empowering Communities Through Campus Journalism.”
