Peace officers from the Montessori De Sagrada Familia, Inc. (MDSF) grade school department raised their right hands as they pledged to champion “Peace Forward” during a ceremony at the elementary gymnasium on September 27 under the theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace: Sagradan, Peace Forward.”
Throughout the month, Sagradans were urged by the GMRC team as well as their teachers to adopt reusable water bottles and lunch containers as part of the school’s gradual shift toward a No Plastic or Non-Reusable Policy.
Artistic competitions, from poster making to essay writing, gave students a platform to voice their visions for a more peaceful and sustainable world. The Kindness Challenge, running throughout September, celebrated small, tangible acts of kindness, with homeroom advisers awarding stickers to students for their good deeds. The pupils also worked on taking care of their “Grass Heads” to symbolize that environmental effort starts from small beginnings.
At the culminating event, Atasha Feliz Cruz led a heartfelt prayer, while student masters of ceremony, Brayden Inigo Lo and Jaimee Victoria Cruz, highlighted the youth’s crucial role in advancing “Peace Forward.”
“Peace is more than just a word or a single action; it’s the seed of love we have for one another,” said Jaimee Cruz, who also won silver in the essay writing competition.
Moreover, Mathematics supervisor Jovelina Inductivo reminded the audience in her opening remarks that peace is not just the absence of conflict but a commitment to inclusivity.
“We nurture peace that is inclusive,” Inductivo said.
GMRC supervisor Jahna Carmella Galvez, who spearheaded the month-long celebration, urged everyone to take responsibility for creating a peaceful world.
“Let us all move peace forward,” Galvez expressed.
The event concluded with a dance performance by the dance club. Afterward, students eagerly attended meetings for their respective clubs.
