The Sagradan Vikings once more displayed their deadly form as they reaped numerous medals in the Qualifying Round Legs 1 & 2 of 2017 Philswim Short Course Swim Series held last August 26-27 at Montessori De Sagrada Familia Swim Center.
Various swim clubs across Central Luzon and Cordillera Administrative Region gathered in this historical day as they competed for two days to determine the qualifiers for the National Championships. Participating clubs include Ilocano Sharks Swim Club, La Union Bullsharks Swim Club, Pines Aquatic Swim Club, New Arapaima Isabela Swim Club, Subic Bay Dolphins Swim Club, and Bulacan Orca Swim Club.
Veteran swimmers proved lethal once again as Althea Gianne Carlos ranked 8 gold medals, Mico Angelo del Poso with7 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze while running third after them is Miller Arzen Wisco with 5 golds and 4 silvers.
Other Vikings who stamped their class in the pool are John Carlo Reyes (1 Gold, 2 Silvers, 5 Bronze), Gabriel Angelo Santos (2 Golds, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze), Aldrich Balderas (1 Gold, 1 Bronze), Shawn Joseph Castro (2 Silvers), Jewel Caroline Venturina, Aneeza Julia Sarmiento, Francesca Simone Fernandez, and Arnold Bernardo (1 Bronze).
Because of their excellent performance, Del Poso, Carlos, and Venturina qualified for the 2017 Short Course National Swimming Championships which is yet to be announced.
The PhilSwim series of meets seeks to provide opportunities to participate in appropriate, quality swimming competitions in order for them to reach their true potential. It is a competition for all swimmers, using a format that is simple to organize and designed for Junior and Youth (11-18years) and grassroots Age Group development implementation. The competition also provides coaches with opportunities to interact, exchange ideas and learn along with their swimmers.
