All great successes are the triumph of persistence.
After bringing home the bacon from various national competitions this past school year, another three students of Montessori De Sagrada Familia (MDSF) received the prestigious Natatanging Kabataan Award during the 13th Dangal ng Baliwag Awards Night held at the Baliwag Star Arena, May 21.
Together with their parents, Vika Civiram Garcia, Shawn Joseph Castro, and Zeth Quiambao proved to the whole Baliwag community that MDSF does not only excel in the academic arena but also in other various fields and disciplines as well after notably dominating their opponents in their specific sports event.
Garcia, an incoming grade 12 Humanities, and Social Sciences (HUMSS) student became an awardee after being hailed as the Overall Drag Queen Champion of the Philippines at the first-ever Philippine Motorcycle Drag Racing Federation (PMDRF) held at Clark International Speedway last Nov. 4, 2017.
Meanwhile, the Palarong Pambansa 2018 stint of both Castro and Quiambao last April 15-21 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur became their ticket in receiving the highest honor given to Baliwagenyos youth.
Castro, an incoming Junior High School freshman, member of the MDSF Vikings Swim Team and two-time Palaro qualifier bagged two bronze medals after being hailed as the third placer in his 50 and 100-meter breaststroke events at this year’s Palarong Pambansa.
Moreover, Castro was also hailed as the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Year in the Region 3 Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA).
Quiambao, an incoming Grade Six pupil also represented the whole Region 3 and the Province of Bulacan in the Badminton Event in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa. The young shuttler of Central Luzon notched the 3rd spot in the Boys Team-Tie Elementary Event together with his teammates from Region 3 making them go home with a bronze medal.
Garcia, Castro, and Quiambao are the three out of the ten awardees of the Natatanging Kabataang Baliwagenyos this year. The awardees were given plaque of recognition by the Local Government Unit headed by the multi-awarded Local Chief Executive of Baliwag, Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella and other members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
The guest of honor for this year’s Dangal ng Baliwag was Mayor Estelita M. Aquino of Moncada, Tarlac who is also a Baliwagenya by blood and by heart.
In her speech, Mayor Aquino echoed to the body that realizing one’s aspiration is very much possible with persistence and perseverance. She reminded the awardees and other guests to always choose to live up to the legacy of a true Baliwagenyo.
The 13th Dangal ng Baliwag Awards Night is a part of the week-long celebration of Baliwag’s Buntal Hat Festival 2018.
Meanwhile, MDSF is deeply committed to continuously produce outstanding young individuals in Baliwag through both curricular and co-curricular programs. Last year, Maria Alanis Tenorio and Mico Del Poso were the Sagradan students who also received the prestigious awards.
