After two years of celebrating its founding anniversary online, the Elementary Department of Montessori De Sagrada Familia brought in a festival-like experience for its families during its 26th Founding Anniversary last December 13-14 in the elementary campus.
Food, festivities, and carnival games for all ages lightened up the atmosphere as learning spaces known to pupils were transformed into a place of recreation and bonding for Sagradan families.
With the theme, “Home is Where the Heart Is,” the event focused on strengthening connectedness among family members of the school community — one that has been greatly tested by the pandemic.
In her opening remarks, School Principal Maria Carmela Santos-Ong expressed her gratitude to all Sagradan families, faculty and staff members for their relentless support over the years.
“It is not easy, indeed. The early years of our school’s existence, all the challenges and trials that we have experienced, “Grit” is something that was developed in us. Challenges have bounced back and forth, but like what they always say, “There is always a rainbow after every rain.” And that rain, our dear Sagradan community, is our victory,” said Ong.
The celebration also became an avenue for the institution to give back to the community.
Prior to the festivities, the MDSF Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) also organized a donation drive with the theme “Unboxing Kindness and Generosity” for the less fortunate Baliwageño families.
In addition, earnings from the carnival game booths will be given to a non-government organization that caters to the needs of marginalized communities.
