Montessori De Sagrada Familia expressed support for the cityhood of Baliwag during the second of the ten-day countdown to the historic plebiscite that will decide the future of the municipality.
In her address during the campaign sortie which the school hosted last December 8 in Glorietta Park, school directress Maria Cristina Santos-Silamor said that taking part in the initiative to promote the cityhood of Baliwag was hard to miss in spite of the busy preparations for the school’s foundation day celebration in December.
“A month ago, when we were invited to be one of the host schools for the countdown for the plebiscite… At first we were hesitant because we knew that December would be our busiest time of the year but also we don’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show to the world our full support to our hometown,” said Silamor.
Students and teachers serenaded and electrified the crowd with song and dance numbers as part of the program. Sagradan faculty and families flocked to the venue and filled the Glorietta Park with energy, enthusiasm and Sagradan spirit.
Mayor Ferdie Estrella, together with several members of the Sangguniang Bayan, thanked the school for its efforts in hosting the campaign and encouraged Baliwageños to vote on the plebiscite.
Note: On December 17, 2022, Baliwag was officially designated as a component city of the Province of Bulacan after majority of the voters in the plebiscite organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ratified turning the municipality into a component city.
Baliwag has now become the fourth city in Bulacan, joining Malolos (the provincial capital), Meycauayan, and San Jose Del Monte.
