Montessori de Sagrada Familia, Inc. continues to champion inclusive education as LIKHA (Learning, Inclusion, and Kaagapay for Holistic Advancement) enters its second year of implementation this School Year 2026-2027.
Following its successful launch for Preschool learners last school year, the LIKHA Program has officially been recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) after MDSF’s application for recognition in 2025. The program has also expanded to the Grade School and High School departments, providing support for students with special educational needs and learning disabilities.
The LIKHA center is headed by Mrs. Jesusa Luzdeldia Tangon, Program Head of the Special Needs Education (SNED) and the visionary behind the initiative. A graduate of Professional Master’s in Special Education at Miriam College, she leads the schools’ efforts in making quality education accessible to every learner.
Students enrolled in the LIKHA program received Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and regular Learning Support Sessions that address their unique learning needs and help them achieve meaningful progress.
“Inclusion is about ensuring that every learner feels that they belong and has equitable access to quality education, regardless of their abilities or learning needs. Inclusive education is no longer just an option—it is a necessity. Every child is unique, and it is our responsibility as educators to ensure that each learner receives what they need to thrive,” Tangon said.
Beyond academic support, the program also nurtures a culture of empathy and belonging across the school community, encouraging students to appreciate and celebrate differences.
“Children with different learning needs are more like them than they are different. They may learn, communicate, or express themselves in unique ways, but they also want to make friends, have fun, and experience success in school. Inclusion starts with small acts of kindness, empathy, and acceptance,” Tangon added.
As LIKHA continues to grow, MDSF reaffirms its commitment to joyful, inclusive, and holistic education—ensuring that every Sagradan has the opportunity to learn, belong, and succeed.
