Showcasing their abilities as the next leaders of the school, the TALA and AGAPAY parties proved themselves in the school’s Miting de Avance held at the Montessori De Sagrada Familia Gymnasium, June 27.
Aiming to continue last year’s SSG president Ruel Simbulan Jr.’s legacy, the True Alliance of Sagradans Aiming for Change (TALA) Party started the event with the introduction of their candidates, Nikki Galvan (Grade 7 Representative), John Lui Rodriguez (Grade 8 Rep.), Edzel Gabriel Galang (Grade 9 Rep.), Marionna Danniela Fernando (Grade 10 Rep.) Both parties then faced each other in the Candidates Forum administered by the school’s COMELEC led by their advisers Mrs. Rochelle Aure and Mr. Mark Joeven Orpilla.
The representatives from Grades 7 to 12 were asked on their stand on issues regarding the clean as you go campaign (CLAYGO), proper haircut and hairstyle, use of cellphones/gadgets for junior high school students, truancy, public display of affection, and regulations on cellphone usage for senior high school students.
Meanwhile, platforms for proper information dissemination (PIO); peace and harmony in the community (Peace Officers); what you value the most as a Sagradan (Auditor); other things that they can do for the campus (Treasurers); reason why students should not vote straight for their parties (Secretaries); most important Sagradan core value, and traits that a Vice President should possess; and goals and aspirations for the school, and why they should not win (Presidents) were the topics and questions discussed by the higher positions.
