Aiming to support Team Bulacan’s bid in retaining its title as the overall champion among Central Luzon’s finest, Montessori De Sagrada Familia accepted the challenge to host the final phase of the Schools Division Office — Bulacan intensive training for the Regional Schools Press Conferences’ qualifiers at the High School campus last May 14 and 15, respectively.
It was truly historical and pivotal for the institution since it was the first time to host the momentous 2-day activity for the campus journalists as they intensively prepare for the much-anticipated regional qualifiers, which will serve as their ticket to the 2024 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) that will take place from July 8-12 in Carcar City, Cebu.
Gathered in the high campus are around 300 members of the Bulacan delegation comprised of campus journalists from both elementary and secondary levels of public and private schools, school paper advisers, teacher coaches, invited training facilitators, members of the Technical Working Group, officers of the school paper advisers association, and officers from the SDO Bulacan headed by the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Chief Dr. Gregorio C. Quinto, Jr. and Education Program Supervisor in English Dr. Jay-Arr V. Sangoyo.
A week prior to day to the intensive training, School Directress Maria Cristina Silamor facilitated a meeting that was attended by the representatives from the Finance Department, Campus Management Office, and the Office of the School Publication Adviser to ensure that the needed logistics will be prepared which includes the fully-airconditioned training rooms, computer units, signages, refreshments, and other needed materials.
During the opening program, Dr. Quinto emphasized the importance of the preparations that SDO Bulacan had laid down to the delegation to ensure that it will retain the 1st place in overall ranking just like what Team Bulacan did in the recently-concluded Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet last April 24-28.
The intensive trainings indeed paid off as members of the Bulacan delegation successfully defended the overall championship in Region III, besting the other 19 divisions as it harvested several awards in the individual, team, and school paper categories including MDSF’s representatives in the collaborative and online publishing event, and the school paper contest. It was a dominating performance for Team Bulacan, proving once more that it is undeniably the “Home of the Champions”.
